BACK IN THE DAZE is playing this coming Saturday night May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) at Taste of Texas in Covina. We are celebrating Rick Baron's ongoing battle and soon to be victory over lung cancer...No this is not just keeping a positive attitude..It truly now looks like he is going to beat this..in a way only 4% of the population has the opportunity to do so....
Here's the deal ...about a year ago I received a call from my old friend Rick Baron. Mot, I've got lung cancer.....from there it was downhill for the next few months.., don't know if the chemo will work, hey lets try and operate..no looks like we can't you're insurance won't cover it..then cool doctor says no worries I'll do it for free.. test come back, nope too large to operate on....it just didn't look good...then..cool doctor says hey Rick lets do a dna test on you, there is a new drug that only works on a small part of the population ( less than 4% ) sure enough DNA test come back and Rick is one of the lucky 4% this new drug works on.. It's been a few months now and the last test indicate it is working and has shrunk the tumor by more than half already...Coooool
Now it's time to get together and celebrate... This is going to a really special night...First off this is the last time you will get to see BACK IN THE DAZE as this lineup over the last 2 years. Sadly but wishing him all the best our talented drummer and lead singer Vic is leaving the Daze to focus more on his family and a band he's been building over the last year on his own called Gorilla Cookies. Bummer..but we're going to go out with a slamming jam. Lots of surprises.
Piston Broke will be opening the show..they will melt your ears and eyes with blazin rock guitars
Lastly we top off the night with a very special guest visit and performance by Daline Jones.. Do a Youtube search for her... she is a killer singer and is doing a few special songs for her Cabo compadre Rick
